The Revision Process

According to White and Arndt (1991) part of the process of becoming critical about one's writing is getting used to the idea that what you write will be read by many other people. This not only gives you a psychological spur to greater efforts; it also develops your capacity for self-assessment, helping you to become a more observant reader and writer.

Feedback from others at the drafting stage can help you to write better. Another readers' perspective of your topic may provide more ideas and point out errors that you might have missed. Also by reading others' writings you will also learn how other people write and may adopt good writing styles that you come across in your reading. There are various ways of reviewing your drafts. One is through using Self-revision checklist or Peer review.
