Self-revison checklist
(a) Type of writing:
- what type of writing is the text intended to be?
- does it conform to the conventions usually expected of its type?
(b) Purpose and ideas:
- is the writer's purpose clear?
- do we understand the main ideas?
(c) Structure of text:
- is it easy to follow the development of the ideas/argument?
- would it help to rearrange the sequence of ideas?
- do the relations between the ideas need to be changed?
- do the connections between the ideas need to be made more explicit?
- are the ideas grouped together in a suitable way?
- is the text segmented into appropriate paragraphs?
- should any of the paragraphs be joined together?
- should any of the paragraphs be broken down into smaller units?
(d) Response as readers
- does the opening make us want to read on?
- do we feel satisfied with the way the text comes to an end?
- are there any points which are not necessary?
- are there any points which we don't understand?
- are there any points on which we would like more information?
